Gazette Builder

Worldbuilding support for WordPress

Build a world worth exploring.

Gazette Builder turns WordPress into a connected worldbuilding gazette. Build Entries for the people, places, organizations, cultures, technologies, documents, events, and other elements of your setting, using predefined or custom Entry Types. Connect those Entries with semantic links and relationships, then let Gazette Builder organize them into browsable indexes, timelines, related-content sections, and optional sequential stories.

A gazette, not just a post list

Structured Entries

Create worldbuilding Entries for locations, characters, organizations, cultures, technologies, documents, events, and any custom Entry Types your setting needs. Add summaries, dates, story data, relationships, and other Gazette Builder metadata as needed.

Semantic Connections

Connect Entries with readable semantic links and precise relationships, so the Gazette understands not only that two Entries are connected, but how they are connected.

Automatic Discovery

Turn that structured content into useful navigation automatically: Entry Type indexes, related-entry sections, inverse relationship lists, and timeline views update as your Gazette grows.

Write once. Let the Gazette do the organizing.

A single Entry can do more than appear on its own page. Once you classify it and define its relationships, Gazette Builder can reuse that information throughout the site—without making you maintain the same lists by hand.

Put your world in chronological order

Worldbuilding rarely happens all at once. Cities are founded, people arrive, organizations form, wars begin, discoveries are made, and stories unfold over time.

Add a usable timeline date to an Entry and Gazette Builder can place it automatically into chronological views alongside other dated Entries. The same Character, Location, Event, Document, or other Entry remains a normal Gazette article while also becoming part of the history of your world.

For example, entering each of these as separate items:

Arrival at Syrtis Major
Event
10 January 1889
The expedition reaches the city and begins establishing itself.

Harcourt Survey
Event
11 January 1889
Final arrangements are made before work begins.

The Brass Compass
Story
12 January 1889
An unusual instrument points toward something beneath the city.

One shortcode, whatever history you want to show

Timeline views can include all dated Entries or just the Entry Types and period relevant to a particular page.

[gazette_timeline]

Which shows all three events.

Or narrow it down:

[gazette_timeline types="location,event" min="1889-01-01" max="1889-06-30" orientation="horizontal" summary="yes"]

Which will only show the two events and exclude the story event.

Timelines can run left to right or top to bottom, include optional Entry summaries, and filter by Entry Type and date range. Add another qualifying Entry later and the timeline updates automatically.

Build the history once in your Entries. Present it wherever the history matters.

Bulk worldbuilding

Import ZIP packages containing Markdown Entries, metadata, optional media, Story sequencing, timeline values, semantic references, and relationship declarations. Preview and validation happen before the package is committed.

Focused by design

Gazette Builder is for publishing structured lore. It is not a GM/player account manager, character-sheet engine, combat tracker, or general RPG campaign-management system.
