Ancient Histories of Dragdim

...

4629 DW, Amon Reclair marries Magarette of Nedews. Amon Reclair was King of the kingdom of DRAGDIM.

They had three sons, a set of triplets named Alexandar, Arnulf and Zedrain.

Alexandar became a great fighter and soldier. He was kind and generous and the gods awarded him with a sword by the name of TYRFING. A great weapon, but cursed to always summon barbarians to be slaughtered by its owner.

Arnulf entered the church and became a great cleric. The gods awarded him with the ring of DRAUPNIR. A ring of protection, it would spawn 8 copies of itself every 9th night. It too was cursed and any female who wore the original, or slept with a man wearing the original would become pregnant.

Zedrain became a renowned wizard. Dabling in the black arts he was not like his brothers and was given a simple necklace by the gods who did not want to shame Amon. BRINGSGANEN was the name of the necklace. Zedrain unhappy with his gift crafted it into an item of evil. It was cursed to summon and promote war. He then gave it away to a leader in another land so that it would bring woe on all around it. Zedrain also stole GAMBANTEIN, "Hermod's Magic Wand".

Amon, wishing to impart his kingdom on the son most worthy of that position called in two of the most powerful wizards of the time. Drengir and Danskillari, both good wizards of more than minor skill in the art of enchantment unique in that they were both dwarves. They devised a test for the three sons and began the construction of an artifact that would make the most worthy a king among kings.

The artifact was composed of several independent items, each most powerful and hard to craft. Right before they were ready to be joined together into the final item, a pirate-thief by the name of SOTE' stole into the wizard's castle, thwarting all the traps and protections Drengir and Danskillari had devised, entered the laboratory and casually tossed all the items into a sack and then stole away into the dark.

Amon was told by Drengir and Danskillari that one of his sons collaborated against the others and had had the items stolen for himself. Amon defended his sons equally, unable to accept that one of his son's might scheme against the others. Before any evidence could be found to incriminate any of the three, all three were caught in a freak accident that killed all three. Amon, heartbroken lived many years until his death and his kingdom and dreams died with his sons.
