Gazette Builder Stories are created by assigning a group of Entries the same Story ID<\/strong> and giving each Entry a Sequence Position<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no separate Story post type to create first. A Story is built from ordinary GazetteBuilder Entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create the Story Landing Entry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Entry with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sequence Position: 0<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
acts as the Story landing page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Give it the same Story ID<\/strong> that will be used by the rest of the sequence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Story ID: EXP-01
Sequence Position: 0<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
This Entry serves as the starting point for the Story and provides the reader with the Story navigation controls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Add Story Entries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Each Entry in the Story uses the same Story ID and a different Sequence Position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Story ID: EXP-01Sequence Position: 0<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
Story ID: EXP-01Sequence Position: 1<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
Story ID: EXP-01Sequence Position: 2<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
Story ID: EXP-01Sequence Position: 3<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
Sequence Position determines reading order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is independent of Campaign Date and Timeline Sort, so a Story can contain flashbacks or other material that is chronologically out of order without affecting the intended reading sequence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Story Fields on the Entry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Open an Entry and use the GazetteBuilder Entry Details section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For Story participation, fill in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Story ID<\/strong>
Identifies which Story the Entry belongs to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sequence Position<\/strong>
Determines where the Entry appears in that Story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Release Date<\/strong>
Optional. Use this when the Entry should not become available to readers until a future date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Story landing Entry at position 0 also carries the Story-level display settings used for the sequence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reader Flow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Once the Story Entries are configured, Gazette Builder handles the reading sequence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Depending on the reader’s progress and the Story’s current availability, the landing Entry can provide controls such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Start<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Continue<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Restart<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
    Entries within the sequence provide progression to the next available Story Entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Readers can also return to the Story landing page from within the sequence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Release-Aware Stories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    Story Entries can have future Release Dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Position 1 \u2014 available
    Position 2 \u2014 available
    Position 3 \u2014 future release<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
    A reader can progress through positions 1 and 2, but Gazette Builder prevents access to position 3 until its Release Date is reached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    The Story sequence can therefore be prepared in advance without exposing later Entries early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Unavailable Story Entries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    Gazette Builder protects Story sequence positions that are not yet available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    If a reader attempts to reach an unreleased Story Entry directly, Gazette Builder redirects them away from that unavailable step rather than exposing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Continuing and Completed Stories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    A continuing Story can end its currently available sequence with a continuation message such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    To be continued…<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
    When another Entry becomes release-eligible, the Story can continue from that point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    A finite Story can instead display its configured ending text when the reader reaches the true final Entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Editing a Story<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    Because Stories are built from Entries, Story changes are made by editing those Entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    To move an Entry within the Story, change its Sequence Position<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    To move an Entry to another Story, change its Story ID<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    To remove it from Story sequencing, remove the Story information from that Entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
