The Entry Types<\/strong> page manages the kinds of Entries available in GazetteBuilder and controls whether each Entry Type has a public reader index.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add an Entry Type<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At the top of the page, enter a new Entry Type name in the Add Entry Type<\/strong> field and select Add<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Entry Type is added to the table and can then be configured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Entry Type Table<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Each Entry Type appears as a row with the following settings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Entry Type<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Reader Index<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Index Title<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Sort Mode<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • URL<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Actions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
    Reader Index<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    Enable Reader Index<\/strong> when you want GazetteBuilder to provide a public index for that Entry Type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    For example, enabling Reader Index for Character<\/strong> creates a reader-facing Character index containing eligible Character Entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Leave it disabled when that Entry Type does not need its own public index.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Index Title<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    The Index Title<\/strong> field controls the title shown on the public reader index.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    This can match the Entry Type name or use a more descriptive reader-facing title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Entry Type: CharacterIndex Title: Characters<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
    or:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Entry Type: CharacterIndex Title: People of the Gazette<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
    Sort Mode<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    The Sort Mode<\/strong> setting controls how Entries are ordered on the public index.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Two sort modes are available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Title<\/strong>
    Sorts Entries alphabetically by Entry title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Release Date<\/strong>
    Sorts Entries according to their Release Date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Choose the mode that best fits how readers should browse that Entry Type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    URL<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    The URL<\/strong> column shows the public address for the Entry Type index when Reader Index is enabled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Use this URL when linking readers directly to that index.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Save<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    After changing Reader Index, Index Title, or Sort Mode, select Save<\/strong> for that row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Settings are saved individually for each Entry Type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Delete<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    A Delete<\/strong> button appears only when no Entries currently use that Entry Type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    If the Delete button is missing, one or more Entries are still assigned to that type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    Before the Entry Type can be deleted, either:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • change those Entries to another Entry Type; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • delete the Entries that use it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
      Once no Entries remain assigned to the Entry Type, the Delete action becomes available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
      Typical Workflow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
      To configure an Entry Type:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      1. Enter a new Entry Type, then click Add<\/strong>.  The Entry Type if it does not already exist will be added to the table.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Enable Reader Index<\/strong> if readers should have a public index for it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Enter an Index Title<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Choose Title<\/strong> or Release Date<\/strong> as the Sort Mode.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. Select Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
        If an Entry Type is no longer needed, first make sure no Entries are assigned to it, then use Delete<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        Remove Duplicate Entry Types<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
        The Remove Duplicate Entry Types<\/strong> button is a cleanup utility for removing duplicate Entry Type definitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
